Can you believe six impossible things before your morning hamberder? As part of destroying the Federal government and the global order whole and entire, the ultra-MAGA maladministration is targeting everything to do with Global Warming, including NOAA, EVs, thousands of Federal charging stations, and much, much more. Ronnie Reagan only took down the solar hot water panels that Jimmy Carter had gotten put on the White House roof, and claimed

Government cannot solve your problems. Government is the problem.

Then he immediately followed that up by saying that the departments have to make the insane cuts themselves, and fire as many people as possible or Elon will come to make the cuts and do the firings for them, all under the pretense of balancing the budget when it comes time for trillions in tax breaks to corporations and the Broligarchy.

In the Real World, However…

Indigenous leaders optimistic after U.N. biodiversity conference

Indigenous peoples and local communities scored perhaps the most tangible progress as [UN Biodiversity Conference CBD-]COP16 concluded.

COP16 has been a great success and is historic for us.

In perhaps the most significant development from COP16, the creation of the Cali Fund could provide a steady flow of funds to communities worth hundreds of millions annually.

it is to receive contributions from industries such as pharmaceuticals and bio-agriculture that use nature-based genetic information for commercial products. Fifty percent of the funds raised will be allocated to the self-identified needs of Indigenous peoples and local communities.

This progress is totally new, we have finally gotten to the point where all countries agree to this approach.

GM Tennessee battery plant workers approve first union contract

The United Auto Workers said on Wednesday that workers at a battery manufacturing joint venture have overwhelmingly approved a first contract with the company.

The deal's highlights include a one-time $3,000 lump sum payment and wages that align with what Ultium workers make at a plant in northeast Ohio, which was the first to unionize. The wages currently start at $26.91 and include increases every year to reach $35 per hour by September 2027.

With Detroit Three automakers pivoting to producing electric vehicles, UAW officials have voiced concerns about members' job security with more EVs coming. UAW President Shawn Fain has made organizing these plants a priority.

In the US, up to 83% of new solar development by 2040 is forecast to be on farmland & ranchland, says the American Farmland Trust. This highlights the need to build solar on rooftops, brownfields, & already-developed lands — and to use #agrivoltaics. [image or embed]

Now this is cool. a massive 200MW (planned to grow to 300MW) battery just went online in Scotland. That battery can provide enough energy to power far more than every home in Scotland for 2 hours and will reduce energy waste from overproduction. You can buy almost anything online—so why not EVs?

Washington is debating a new bill that could allow direct EV sales, cutting out the middleman and making it easier (and cheaper!) to go electric.

Despite this one-month reprieve, Trump's tariff obsession uniquely threatens the global car industry. Here's a great story from Mack (who's too cool to be On Here) about how Volkswagen, in particular, can't catch a break lately:

Denial and Obstruction

Fact-checking Trump’s claim that a group ‘headed up’ by Stacey Abrams received $2 billion

   If Your Time is short

  • Stacey Abrams, a two-time Democratic candidate for Georgia governor, was senior counsel for Rewiring America from March 2023 through 2024.

  • Rewiring America was part of a five-group coalition that was awarded a $2million Environmental Protection Agency grant to help make homes across the country more energy efficient.

  • There’s no evidence Abrams directly received any of the grant money or that she led the broader coalition that received the grant.

See the sources for this fact-check

During his March 4 address to Congress, President Donald Trump called out Stacey Abrams, saying the two-time Democratic candidate for Georgia governor "headed up" a group that was an example of wasteful government spending.

Trump listed several federal spending items he characterized as examples of "appalling waste." Among them, he said, was "$1.9 billion (that went) to (a) recently created decarbonization of homes committee, headed up — and we know she’s involved, just at the last minute the money was passed over — by a woman named Stacey Abrams. Have you ever heard of her?"

Abrams was on All In with Chris Hayes last night to explain how the program saved consumers money with energy-efficient appliances.
